I'm asumeing that you are just starting out on your map and want to know easy ways of looking around at it.
If you have a brush on the grid select it and press ctrl+shift+E and the camera (3d view) will now be centered in the middle of the box.
Or if you dont have a brush on the grid just creat one and press ctrl+shift+E and the camera (3d view) will now be centered in the middle of the box.
Put your mouse over the 3d view and press Z. Now the 3d view will be tied to your mouse, makeing it easy to look around.
To exit that mod press Z again. Here are your controlls for movement.
W is forard
S is backward
A is strife left
D is strife right.
And with Z pressed the mouse controlls where you are looking, just like when your dead and flying around in css.
Now I get tired of looking at my map through a small bit of the screen so I used to grab the lines in the middle of the 4 views and strech the camera view bigger. However there is a much easyer way to do this.
You can use Shift+Z, but this has more then one use.
Shift+Z will expand the last used view to the max size it can get on your screen. So if you were last useing the top right view and press shift+Z it will expand the top right view to full size. So you can expand any view you like to full size simply by clicking somewhere on it before pressing shift+Z And as another helpfull hotkey ctrl+A will bring all 4 views to the same size.
Now then, the Camera tool
Thats a usefull tool to use as well, you can move your camera around on the grid views when you have that tool selected.
Although I dont use it often, I find it much better to move around in the 3d view with the mouse and keyboard or by selecting a brush and useing cctrl+shift+E.
