Hello.

so i guess ill let you all know a little about myself.

Im 20 years old, and live in Philadelphia. i am also very tall standing at 6'9". my passion is to be a great game developer/designer.
i know very little about scripting or coding so i started my first semester in College in computer science to help my jump start into game development. i like viewing video games as a perfect example of the integration of Technology and Art, Like a Yin-Yang of the medium. i enjoy playing games to take apart the art and mechanics of game play to immerse myself in the experience. I joined the type 3 forums to not only follow the "Battle of Philadelphia" Mod, but to read up on other users experience in the developing field of Game Creation. i hope to learn as much as possible and give great feedback to help the content and community as a whole. my Steam ID is http://steamcommunity.com/id/Koboltblue and can be reached on skype aswell.
THanks guys.

Hello! Welcome to Type3! It's always nice to have people joining up here.

A friendly word of advice if I may, to jump start a game design career don't go into computer science. And if you do, stay on the coding side of things. That way you will be able to code for said games. But as I'm to understand there are many schools that actually offer a game design degree, you might want to go for that.

Anyways, welcome aboard!

I don't really mean to down all the games in existence, but I think it's good to keep in mind anything made by man is not perfect. Beautiful and amazing as it may be, there are always flaws in one way or another. I like finding the flaws and figuring out how I would have fixed it if I were the one building that piece of the game.

Are you going to get into source creation?

Welcome to Type 3!

I'll be interested to hear what you have to say about BOP (The Battle of Philadelphia)... what we did right, what we did wrong, etc. ;)

The other side of the coin to what TopHATTwaffle said is that a degree in Computer Science will help you out in the real world, in case you don't find a game design job right away. I studies CS myself, and have made a few successful career moves thanks to the degree. If you have a knack for logic / coding then you're definitely taking the right route, but certainly keep in mind that studying CS isn't a free ride into game development.

Re: Hello.

@Tophattwaffle, Yea, i understand that a degree in computer science isn't the same, I'm taking it to further my knowledge in coding. after my computer science degree I'm going to Drexel University for their game design degree Program (http://replay.drexel.edu/).

@Nicademas, when i meant "Perfect" i wasn't really talking about all the games in existence, i mean that a video game is a great collaboration of art and tech.

@vecima, ill be happy to give you any feedback on BOP, and yes i understand CS is not a free ride into the game industry, i plan on working hard to get somewhere :P .
