Re: Howdy

I was slightly mistaken.

The Jupiter and Jupiter EX licnesing varies from $15K to $55K. so EX is probably closer to the $55K. It's still a tenth or less of the rumored price of Unreal 3.

Re: Howdy

Should have taken advantage of that limited time offer of licensing it for 20k. And yeah, 55k is much easier on the budget than what I had been seeing come up for UE3.

Still, the UE3 engine already has a nice reputation with it and would (I assume) gather a much larger crowd initially than a game sporting a "powered by Jupiter EX" logo (minus any previous hype).

Re: Howdy

I don't think consumers are really driven by what engine powers a game. maybe a small crowd are.

I really don't think much of the unreal engine. I don't feel like going into why right now though :D

I think we've had this discussion somewhere else on the forums.... probably a couple times now.

Ah for me it would have to be
Glacier2, or id-Tech5. Or both.

When either one comes out.

Re: Howdy

Can't say I've seen too much about Glacier, but then again I haven't played the Hitman games. Tech 5 is looking pretty, though. Plus, it sounds like they've got a really slick tool chain.

Re: Howdy

So true. I'm hoping as soon as the end of this year, but I doubt that. Ah well, one can dream.

Re: Howdy

It won't be open source before ID tech 5 is out, and ID tech 5 (Rage) isn't out this year...
