What's the latest?

It's been a couple of weeks since we heard anything from you vecima, so what's the latest? Are we getting close to the beta yet? Even the dev forums have been pretty quiet.

On another note, I read a post on SDK Nuts, that said you were running BOP with the Orange Box version of the engine. Is that going to be the engine used for the demo and final versions of BOP. If so then we need to change that on the website and Mod DB profile. I think they both say right now that you would just need HL2.

Re: What's the latest?

I've been toying around with that, but I'm not sure where the final release will sit. certainly not on a beta version of the ep2 engine. we may move over when the final is available.

at any rate, even if the mod is set up on the orangebox engine, i think you'll still only need hl2. we've been using the ep1 engine for a while now, but still only requiring hl2.

yes, it's been pretty quiet around here, but we're working. it's sort of a case of a few small things taking longer than i would have thought, followed by me running out of motivation temporarily, and finally throw in some distractions and two weekends that went out the window without me finding time for mod work.

in short, we're still on the case... thanks for being patient, and sorry it's taking so long... (december 31st... what was i smoking?)

Thanks for the update. I can understand time getting away from you, it happens pretty easily if you are not careful! :)

Re: What's the latest?

How close are we coming to the private beta demo release? From what I'm seeing I'm not sure if we are moving forward or backward or if my perception of things is skewed because I'm seeing parts of the process that were transparent to me before.

Re: What's the latest?

you know... i'm a little bewildered my self.

starting the year off we were bolting forward like a speed train, and our destination was the next stop ... a few (metaphorical) minutes, tops. (is it metaphorical if you use the word "like", and have to say "metaphorical"?)

then we came to a screeching halt for a couple weeks. we started forward again. once we got cruising a bit we realized that we weren't as close to the destination as we thought we were. we were still close, but ... maybe an (metaphorical) hour. then we realized that the destination wasn't the final destination, but that there would be a little extra to go after the next station.

we stopped and started again over a period of another week, due to a delay in communication between conductor and engineer.

after cruising just a bit farther, we found out about a problem with our locomotive. it wouldn't run so well on older tracks. we needed to optimize. we took some extra parts out of the mechanical operations center, and covered the thing with a slightly more aerodynamic angular piece of metal that we hoped would reduce drag. it helped a good deal. we're still not sure if the oldest tracks on the line will hold us up, but we're going to give it a shot before we try to streamline any further.

right now we're mainly just making small customizations to accommodate the crew, and training the staff to properly serve and entertain the passenger guests on the maiden voyage. (do trains have voyages?)

ps. there are actually hidden details on specific development areas in that message...

Yeah, I think I might recognize some of what you're talking about...but then again...I do have a bit of an inside view compared to some. :t3blkninjavanish:
