Re: 5: Music

Ah the other guys are better at explaining than me,

The only real thing I do in hammer is make sure the map save paths go C:mymod/mapsrc and SourceMods/mymod/maps, folders and not the other games or sdk folders.

This could be a wrong way to do it though.

Re: 5: Music

are you trying to configure for an existing mod? or are you trying to configure for a mod you're creating?

Re: 5: Music

then you want to set up hammer with the map folder pointing to your mods mapsrc folder, and with the game set to Steam/SteamApps/SourceMods/<your mod>.

all of that is explained here:

Re: 5: Music

alright, so i've been tinkering with sound and whatnot. i configured hammer for my mod, created a sound folder in my mod directory, added the sounds i wanted, and even put the file type as "raw" in the sound browser, but i still don't see my sounds. what am i doing wrong?

Re: 5: Music

hmm.... not exactly sure... they're either .wav or .mp3, right? (the files in your sound folder)

you would very likely have to restart hammer to find them... same with custom textures.

Re: 5: Music

Which is higher sound quality: mp3 or wav? I heard wav is potentially lossless if you make a high enough quality track since it's uncompressed audio data...

.mp3 format, since it is compressed, would give a lesser quality track although for most purposes it would be acceptable if recorded at a decent bitrate. It would also keep your overall download smaller especially if you have a lot of music.

.wav format is uncompressed so it is considered a lossless format.
