Re: First post here haha.

if you mean portable software, i use audacity. if you mean like a portable mic, i donno.

in college (i majored in radio, tv, and film for a while) we would use a digital "mini-disc" recorders. you might be able to get one cheap, since the "mini-disc" thing didn't really catch on as a technology. just be sure if you go for something like that you get one with a usb output or something similar.

Re: First post here haha.

If you are looking for a portable recorder you can probably find a flash-based recorder more easily than a mini-disc one. Another thing to make sure besides USB output on one is a mic input jack so if you want to use a different (read: better) mic than the one usually built in to such units, you have that option. I know at wal-mart I have seen some with both of those features from RCA for around 30 bucks, but I don't know what the quality of the recordings would be like. If I remember correctly though it records in MP3 format.

Sounds good, I'll give these a look and see if it will work.

The file format doesnt matter to me as much as the quality. I'm hopeing to be able to record movie quality sounds. like feet walking on diferant materials or sqeeky hindgs. :t3cool:

Re: First post here haha.

Your can look at this,
Sony PCM-D1 , :D
but you'll probable want ot start with the search terms
But this is high quality stuff with.
PCM
PCM Recorder
Linear PCM Recorder.

Or alternately you can use and ipod accessory or something like that,
But be careful sometimes, by the time you by all the accessory's for something, you could of bought the thing you really needed.
