Level sketches

These are what I have so far. They've been done for a while, but I just finally got around to scanning them.

Re: Level sketches

Nice! I prefer drawing on binder paper too, it helps me judge my lines better.

Re: Level sketches

haha, I might get into that... my son is just about the right age to inherit my legos from my childhood. right now he has the slightly larger sized legos, but soon I'm going to give him my lego bin (probably $500 worth of kits in there).

I sometimes wonder if that's why I had a child... so I could get back into legos... and so I can still trick or treat...

Ohh hey now I want one.
Actually what I would like most is a little creature made out of rocks that just sits on my desk or follows me around all day watching me while it eats rocks.
Easy to clean up after it, very durable so you cant break/kill it, easy to feed it, and most important, it's interesting.

To bad those don't exist... at least not on earth.

Re: Level sketches

Me maps all start on paper as mainly layout with ideas written in on what to do with each area. As a create the map in hammer I write notes and alter the original sketch so I don't lose any of my "good" ideas. I generally build each area to completion so it gives me plenty of time to think about other areas. Then when I'm almost done with the map I format my computer and somehow forget to grab vmfs.

I really need to get a new desktop so I can get back into that cycle.

Re: Level sketches

@Nic - you would love one of my creature designs for ER. The thing would disguise itself as a pile of rocks... except this one was about 9 feet tall (if it stood up on 2 legs) and would immediately try to kill you.

@tyrtill - ouch... that's almost a productive system. maybe just make a few tweeks to it

@Vecima.
You know, I was kinda thinking more along the lines of a cute little thing about 10 inches tall with 2 legs and 4 arms, (Like a centaur doing a hand stand.) and some ruby red eyes that glow in the dark and light up the room. haha, would be even more awesome if you could give it a flash light and it would covet the flash light and enjoy any opportunities to use it.

@Tyrtill.
Great cycle except for the last part. If I had one, I think it would be really really close to yours.
Well tell me when you get back into the cycle and I'll be sure to nag you every few weeks to send me your latest vmfs. (Because I dont loss anything.... except my TrackMania Nations Forever score..... *crys.*)
